AIGA is the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design—with 70 chapters and more than 25,000 members. Airlift was tasked with designing a framework in order to dynamically generate posters from Facebook user profiles. This provided every participant with a completely different visual representation and experience.
Our goal was to embrace swiss design and “big data” as a vehicle for “inputs” to ultimately create a cohesive design language for AIGA. AIGA could then utilize the final artwork as a means for monetization to produce posters, t-shirts, etc.
Airlift established the design logic in order to have clear “inputs” that created a stylistic visual representation of the user’s Facebook profile. Inputs such as; gender, birth-date, relationship status, age and name we used. The result was a complete autonomous design system that generated designs that could then be browsed, shared and printed from a dedicated website.
